Pennsylvania insurance CE, built for online self-study

The PID hands provider and course review to PSI, and completions land in Sircon. We build the platform on your site, under your brand, to the PSI program requirements for internet and computer based courses.

What PID requires of an online course

Pennsylvania Insurance Department (PID). Summarized from the rule text, with the citation for each so you can check it yourself.

  1. 01

    24 credits every two years

    PID Continuing Education Information page

Licensed producers complete at least 24 hours of CE credit in each two year licensing cycle, or the license is voluntarily terminated. Act 147 of 2002 gives the PID limited authority to waive the requirement case by case.

  2. 02

    PSI reviews, Sircon records

    PID Continuing Education Information page

Provider and course applications and instructor verifications go to the PSI Regional Processing Center for the PID. Approved course lists and licensee transcripts sit on Sircon.

  3. 03

Submit 60 days before the first run

PSI PA CE and PLE Program Requirements (5-20-15), Introduction and items 1 and 9

Course approval requests go in at least 60 days before the course is first presented, and PSI approves or disapproves a complete application within 30 days. Providers and courses expire 2 years after approval.

  4. 04

    Credit in 50 minute blocks

PSI PA CE and PLE Program Requirements (5-20-15), items 8, 10 and 26

Fifty minutes of instruction earns one credit hour, partial credits are not allowed, and each course runs from 1 to 48 credit hours. Self-study credit is set by the estimated study time.

  5. 05

Read it all, then test without the text

PSI PA CE and PLE Program Requirements (5-20-15), items 24, 26 and 27

Self-study credit needs an exam, filed with the course request. Online students must review the entire text before the exam opens and may not view the text while taking it. Credit requires a grade of 70 percent or more.

  6. 06

    Rosters in 10 business days

PSI PA CE and PLE Program Requirements (5-20-15), item 14

Completion rosters for CE and prelicensing are reported online through Sircon within ten business days of course completion.

Question 1 of 6

PID Continuing Education Information page

24 credits every two years

Does your current setup do this?

How the platform is built to it

Your course, on your site, under your name. Every requirement above is a feature, not a promise in the application.

Credit hours from measured study time

The platform records how long the material takes and rounds to whole 50 minute credits, so the hours you request hold up when PSI reviews them.

An exam that opens after the last page

The exam stays locked until every page of the text has been reviewed, and the text is hidden for the whole attempt. The pass mark is set at 70 percent.

Exam export for the course request

The live question bank exports as a document you attach to the course application, so the exam PSI approves is the exam students take.

Sircon roster staging

Each completion is staged for Sircon with the details the roster needs and a ten business day clock, so nothing ages past the deadline.

Renewal reminders on the 2 year cycle

Course approval dates are stored with each course, and the admin flags renewals well before the 2 year expiry.

The path to PID approval

  5. 5

Report completion rosters through Sircon within ten business days.

The terms

We are building one right now for a state-approved online school in Virginia, in English and Spanish, on the same terms.

One flat fee
Quoted per course before any work starts. No hourly billing and no surprise line items.
Final payment on approval
The last payment is due when the regulator approves the course, so the platform has to pass review before it is paid for in full.
No per-student fees
You keep what every enrollment pays. Nothing is skimmed per seat, per certificate or per month of traffic.
You own it
The platform, the code and the student records are yours outright, on your site and under your brand.

Questions schools ask

Who approves online insurance CE in Pennsylvania?

PSI reviews provider and course applications on behalf of the Pennsylvania Insurance Department, and approved courses appear on Sircon.

Does a Pennsylvania self-study exam need a proctor?

The PSI requirements we read are the 2015 edition, and proctoring is a rule that has moved since. We confirm the current requirement with PSI before the build and configure the exam to it.

How soon are rosters due?

Within ten business days of course completion, reported online through Sircon.

Who owns the platform when it is done?

You do, including the code. One flat fee per course, the final payment when the course is approved, and no per-student fees. We are building one right now for a state-approved online school in Virginia, in English and Spanish, on the same terms.

Do you submit the PSI application for me?

You submit as the provider. We prepare the platform side: the exam export, how review is enforced, and reviewer access if PSI asks for it.
