Florida notary education online, built for Governor registration

Every first-time Florida notary applicant needs three hours of interactive or classroom instruction from a provider registered with the Executive Office of the Governor, on a core curriculum that office approves. The EOG reviews your materials and a recording of the course, then again every year. We build the interactive version on your site so the curriculum, the recording and the sworn certificate all come out of one system.

What EOG requires of an online course

Executive Office of the Governor, Notary Section (EOG). Summarized from the rule text, with the citation for each so you can check it yourself.

  1. 01

    Three hours, interactive or classroom

    Section 668.50(11)(b), F.S.

A first-time applicant submits proof of at least 3 hours of interactive or classroom instruction completed within 1 year before applying, covering the duties of the notary public and including electronic notarization.

  2. 02

    Registered provider, approved core curriculum

    Section 668.50(11)(b), F.S.

Courses may be offered by any public or private person or entity registered with the Executive Office of the Governor, and they must include a core curriculum approved by that office.

  3. 03

    Nine required curriculum sections

EOG Specifications and Procedures for Registration to Provide Notary Education

The EOG curriculum runs from resources for notaries, the office of notary public and notary duties through special positions, performing notarial acts, liability and record keeping, special topics, electronic notarization and the certificate of completion.

  4. 04

A sworn certificate signed by both sides

EOG Specifications and Procedures for Registration to Provide Notary Education

The Certificate of Completion must include a sworn statement, signed by the notary applicant and the instructor, that they completed three hours of classroom or interactive training.

  5. 05

Materials plus a recording of the course

EOG Specifications and Procedures for Registration to Provide Notary Education

Course materials go to the EOG with an audio or video recording of the course being conducted, and companies must be registered with the Division of Corporations and in good standing.

  6. 06

    Reviewed every year

EOG Specifications and Procedures for Registration to Provide Notary Education

The curriculum is reviewed yearly. Before the anniversary of your approval, file an affidavit that nothing changed, or a new outline and recording for approval. The Notary Section may also attend any class unannounced.

  7. 07

Online notaries take their own course

    Section 117.225(2), F.S.

To register as an online notary, a notary certifies completion of a classroom or online course covering the duties, obligations and technology requirements of serving as an online notary.

Would your course pass EOG today?

7 questions, one per rule above, about how you deliver the course now. You see the result right away.

Question 1 of 7

Section 668.50(11)(b), F.S.

Three hours, interactive or classroom

A first-time applicant submits proof of at least 3 hours of interactive or classroom instruction completed within 1 year before applying, covering the duties of the notary public and including electronic notarization.

Does your current setup do this?

How the platform is built to it

Your course, on your site, under your name. Every requirement above is a feature, not a promise in the application.

Interactive lessons mapped to the nine sections

Each EOG curriculum section is its own tracked module with questions inside it, so the course is interactive instruction rather than a video to sit through, and the outline you submit is the course outline.

A three-hour clock on active time

Idle time does not count toward the three hours, and the certificate stays locked until the clock and every module are complete.

Sworn statements signed electronically

The applicant and the instructor each sign the sworn statement on the certificate, with timestamps stored on the student record, which is the two-signature requirement in the EOG specifications.

Recording export for the review

The platform renders a screen recording of the full course run, ready to send with your materials and again with any changed curriculum at the yearly review.

Anniversary reminder and version history

Your approval date is stored with the course, and the platform flags the yearly filing ahead of the anniversary and shows whether anything changed since the last approved version.

The path to EOG approval

  1. 1

Register the company with the Department of State, Division of Corporations, and stay in good standing.

  2. 2

Complete the EOG registration form, agreeing to the requirements and curriculum, and include your Division of Corporations ID number.

  3. 3

Send the curriculum materials and an audio or video recording of the course to the Executive Office of the Governor, Notary Section, for approval.

  4. 4

Once registered, the EOG posts your company name and phone number on its website.

  5. 5

Before each anniversary of approval, file an affidavit of no changes, or a new curriculum outline and recording for approval.

The terms

We are building one right now for a state-approved online school in Virginia, in English and Spanish, on the same terms.

One flat fee
Quoted per course before any work starts. No hourly billing and no surprise line items.
Final payment on approval
The last payment is due when the regulator approves the course, so the platform has to pass review before it is paid for in full.
No per-student fees
You keep what every enrollment pays. Nothing is skimmed per seat, per certificate or per month of traffic.
You own it
The platform, the code and the student records are yours outright, on your site and under your brand.

Questions schools ask

Who approves Florida notary education courses?

The Executive Office of the Governor. Under s. 668.50(11)(b), providers register with that office and use a core curriculum it approves, and its Notary Section reviews the materials and recording you submit.

Can the Florida notary course be taken online?

The statute accepts interactive or classroom instruction, and the EOG specifications speak of classroom or interactive training. An online course has to be interactive, which is how we build it.

Does the course need to cover electronic notarization?

Yes. Section 668.50(11)(b) requires it, and electronic notarization is section VIII of the EOG curriculum.

Is the remote online notary course the same course?

No. Section 117.225(2) has a registering online notary certify a separate classroom or online course on the duties, obligations and technology requirements of serving as an online notary. The platform can run both as separate courses.

What are the terms?

A flat fee per course, final payment due when the EOG approves the curriculum, no per-student fees, and you own the platform and the code. We are building one right now for a state-approved online school in Virginia, in English and Spanish, on the same terms.
